Drive Times
The Dominican Republic is not your typical tiny Caribbean island nation that you can drive around in a single day. This is the second largest nation in the Caribbean with an area of 48,730 sq. kilometers (km2). By comparison, Jamaica is 1/4th of the size and Puerto Rico is 1/5th the size of the Dominican Republic. Popular islands such as St. Barts (21 km2) and Anguilla (102 km2) are extremely small by comparison.
The reason we point this out is because often tourists will want to fly into Punta Cana but stay at Villa Castellamonte on the north coast. The driving distances between the various airports and locations along the north coast can be deceptive unless you understand the scale of the country. Here are some popular drive times you should use when considering which airport to fly into.
